When selecting what size wrap to purchase it is important to consider what type of carry you would like to do, as well as what size you and your baby are. In general your base size is good for a Front Wrap Cross Carry as seen in our My Wrap section. Please read our instructions on how to do a basic carry and safety guidelines before you start wrapping. Our woven wraps are made from all natural fibres and, with few exceptions, are as easy to care for as your regular household laundry. Firstly, you must look over your woven before washing for the first time. We ask you to look for any weaving flaws that we may have missed along the way. If you are un-happy with your carrier then please contact us. Your woven wrap will arrive to you in what is called “loom state”. Therefore, it is very important that you wash and iron your ring sling before use. This sets the weave, removes any residue and will fluff up your wrap to make it soft and smooshy.
Wash your woven wrap first in one cold wash on a medium spin, and on gentle cycle for subsequent washing. We do not recommend the use of colour catchers with any textiles. Tumble dry on low. Ironing is strongly encouraged to prevent premature wear at the rails and other highly creased areas.
It is normal for your woven wrap to shrink in the first wash. We have taken into account shrinkage when we have cut and hemmed our wraps.

I was delighted to be trying Urban Journey in both wrap and ring sling. Journey is woven in my favourite blend, Wool & Cotton. I had both kids up in the ring sling and I was happy that I couldn’t feel any dig. The floating gathered shoulder of the ring sling provided two layers over my shoulder which provided the Cush I needed to carry the 15kg toddler. Even though Urban Journey is run on a black warp, it would only require a short breaking in period. After a wash & a couple of wears, Journey had a lovely light drape to it. I found it is soft & moulded around my babes beautifully. The pattern of the wrap provides enough texture to give you a touch of resistance when doing two layers but not too much that it would prevent from getting a good wrap job. When i rucked Ru, I found the texture of the wrap held my knotless finish. 20 minutes later i checked the wrap job, there was no sag, It held my cranky bucking bronco in place. Journey has more texture than its blend sibling, Polaris. It reminded me of my first woolie love, Monet Bluewater. Although its just a fraction thinner. In saying that, Journey is not a thin wrap, its more of a medium weight wrap. Even though Urban Journey is a woolie blend, I found that it didn’t have any prickle or itch that some wool blends happen to have. It was soft enough for my babes delicate skin. It was very hard to find a negative to this wrap, I really enjoyed its time here. Urban Journey is a fantastic all rounder. I believe that Journey would last someone from newborn to toddlerhood. Saying that, bigger toddlers may need double layers for picky shoulders and longer wears.

Urban Journey is moldable, cushy and has the perfect grip to glide ratio. It’s medium thickness in hand and has a rather flat weave. I wore my 4 month old for around an 2 hours in a Front Wrap Cross Carry and my already sore shoulders didn’t complain (I had worn my giant 3.5yr old for hours the day before, ouch!). There is a nice bounce from the wool but no sag or slip. I was not hot and there was no prickle from the wool, I wouldn’t even pick it was a wool blend! This wrap would be perfect for newborns through to large toddlers. I did manage to convince my 3.5yr old to come up to test it out. He weighs around 20kg or so. I wrapped him in a double hammock and he promptly fell asleep! He was up for around 30mins before I started to really feel it on my shoulders. It made an excellent chest pass, felt relatively cushy on my shoulders and didn’t sag for the time I had him up. I wouldn’t wrap him in single layers as I don’t feel it would be cushy enough on my shoulders.

International shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your shipping location and weight of the product(s). Express and Standard options for shipping are available for selection.
Delivery time ranges from 5-21 (five to twenty-one) business days after shipping, based on the address given.
International purchases may also be liable for any customs and import duty, quotas, permits, product restrictions and other local requirements. These charges must be paid by the recipient of the parcel.
Ankalia Textiles is not liable for any custom or import duties and will not cover the cost of custom fees or import duties into any country.
A return of order will be accepted either:
- after a product has been shipped, and a cancellation of order was communicated by the consumer to Ankalia Textiles within the same day of purchase; or
- within fourteen (14) days of order when product is unused, undamaged, and in original purchase condition. “Original purchase condition” is defined as unwashed, unless otherwise stated as ‘Ready to wear’ at time of purchase.
